1. Where did you grow up and how did you end up at Rave Mobile safety?
I grew up in Methuen, Mass.—a half an hour North of Boston. In 1994, I graduated from Bentley College (now Bentley University) with BS in Computer Science. After graduation, I spent time at various small, medium, and large technology companies. Throughout my career, I would gravitate towards the smaller/medium size firms as I found they had more innovation, were team-oriented, and very mission-driven.
In 2006, I left Oracle and followed my boss, Peter, to a small start-up. I started in August and by November (the Monday before Thanksgiving) the company had folded. Peter went on to become VP of Engineering at Rave in January 2007 and I followed him again. The second time’s a charm, right? I started as a software architect at Rave and as the company grew, I grew with it. (To put it in perspective—that was before the first iPhone was on the market!). I’m proud to have worked with Rave these past 15 years.
2. Where do you think technology will be in five years and how will we adapt
Technology is constantly evolving. In the next five years, I see data playing a larger role in the world. There will be a greater need to understand all the disparate data out there and make it more human-digestible. Rave will leverage all the necessary technologies to provide public safety officials with the best data– the most accurate data– at their fingertips.
3. What are three words you would use to describe yourself?
Persistent. Humble. (I’m the best at being humble!) Empathetic.
4. What one word would best describe your leadership style?
Collaborative. I really cherish my team’s insight and perspective into all the various challenges we face. As the King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley, once said, “I’m taking care of business.”
5. How do you keep yourself up-to-date with the latest trends technology?
I follow all the various tech sites, listen to podcasts, and pay attention to tech news. But the most effective way of staying up-to-date with the latest technology is by working with my brilliant engineering team and learning from them.
6. What is your favorite part about working at Rave?
The people here definitely. Everyone is so committed to our mission at every level. I admire and am inspired by everyone here every day.
7. If you could travel anywhere right now, where would it be?
The best part of working at Rave is the transparent leadership, strong culture, and team focus.
8. What is your favorite sports team?
New England Patriots. Long live Bill Belichick!
9. Outside of work, what are your favorite things to do?
I like music—I like to listen to it and play instruments, such as the guitar and the piano. I have an eclectic taste in music ranging from Elvis Presley to ABBA to Van Halen and everything in between. I also spend time with my loving family.
10. Do you have anything else you’d like to share with our blog readers?
I am proud to have been a part of building a great company such as Rave. Everyone here has dedicated their time to Rave’s continuous mission– building and innovating with technology to help improve people’s safety.
